Beyond Bhopal
Beyond Bhopal the Inquiry was set up to define and communicate the justice undone and current disputes that are a legacy of Union Carbide Corporation, Dow Chemicals, and their associated subsidiaries' activities in Bhopal.
European Union Resolution C 226 E/361 – 15.9.05
Section 6. Calls for an independent inquiry into the current situation in Bhopal, possibly under the auspices of the UN Commission on Human Rights, engaging the relevant Special Rapporteurs to visit India in order to examine the effect of UCIL/UCC activities and the Bhopal disaster on contamination of the groundwater and the environment adjacent to the UCI plant, and consequently on the human rights of affected communities;
Twenty-five years after the tragic disaster, and five years after the EU resolution on Bhopal, no meaningful action has taken place.
In the absence of an independent inquiry under the auspices of the UN Commission on Human Rights, or any other independent body, “Beyond Bhopal the Inquiry” has conducted an independent investigation and has opened a dialogue with significant voices of those affected and those with the knowledge to make a change, portraying its findings in an open, multi media framework to allow the discussion to reach the widest audience possible.

Our recommendation for action by the European Union is based on a scientific approach and is simple to implement: "Call for the European Commission to provide the Empowered Commission on Bhopal an offer of technical and financial support to assess comprehensively, independently and verifiably the contamination of the former Union Carbide site in Bhopal.” -
